Notice is hereby given that Order in Council No. 831 was approved and ordered on December 17, 2015 authorizing:
1. An amendment to Letters Patent for the Town of Princeton, effective December 17, 2015, to extend the boundaries of the Town of Princeton to include the Copper Mountain Mine, which is located approximately 20 km south of the Similkameen River, and impose a limit on tax rate increases on the mine properties to a maximum of 3% annually. These amendments are authorized under section 20 [extension of municipal area] and section 14 [tax rate limit] of the Local Government Act [R.S.B.C. 1996] (now s. 12 and 29 of the Local Government Act [R.S.B.C. 2015]).
2. An amendment to Letters Patent for the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen, effective December 17, 2015, to reduce the boundary of the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen to exclude the Copper Mountain Mine extension area and transfer relevant service jurisdiction to the Town of Princeton. These amendments are authorized under section 782 [creation or restructure of municipalities] of the Local Government Act [R.S.B.C. 1996] (now s. 44 of the Local Government Act [R.S.B.C. 2015]).
A copy of the amendment to these Letters Patent, including a map of the Town of Princeton noting the area of extension, may be viewed or obtained from the Governance and Structure Branch of the Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development, 800 Johnson Street, PO Box 9839 STN Prov Govt, Victoria, BC V8W 9T1 or viewed at the offices of the Town of Princeton, located at 151 Vermillion Ave, during normal hours of operation.
