Nelson and District Home Support Services Society

1   The Regional District of Central Kootenay is granted the additional power to provide financial aid to the Nelson and District Home Support Services Society as a local service.

Operation and maintenance of cemeteries

2   The Regional District of Central Kootenay is granted the additional powers of section 716 of the Local Government Act to operate and maintain cemeteries as an extended service, and also the power to contribute financial aid toward the cost of operating cemeteries as an extended service.

Flood control

3   The Regional District of Central Kootenay is granted the additional power to acquire, install and maintain drain culverts to provide water diversion systems or other flooding controls including dyking within the regional district, as local services and also the power to contribute financial aid to organizations responsible for the control of flooding, as local services.

Economic Development Commissions

4   The Regional District of Central Kootenay is granted the additional power to provide Economic Development Commissions as an extended service.

Emergency programs

5   The Regional District of Central Kootenay is granted the additional power to provide emergency programs as an extended service under the Emergency Program Act.

Additional powers under section 727

6   The Regional District of Central Kootenay is granted the additional power to exercise the powers conferred on the council of a municipality under section 727 of the Local Government Act as an extended service.
