Publication of Letters Patent Regulation

Information to be published in Gazette

1   (1) This regulation applies to the notices respecting letters patent that the minister is required to publish under section 780 (1) (a) of the Local Government Act.

(2) The minister's notice in the Gazette must include the following information:

(a) the name of the municipality, regional district or improvement district to which the letters patent relate;

(b) the number and date of the order in council by which the letters patent were issued, and the effective date of letters patent if different than the date of enactment;

(c) in general terms, the purpose of the letters patent;

(d) the authorizing legislative provision for the letters patent;

(e) where the letters patent may be viewed;

(f) if the letters patent include a boundary description, one of the following may be used in the notice:

(i) a synopsis describing the area and where a map of the boundary description may be viewed;

(ii) the legal description of the parcels affected;

(iii) a metes and bounds description of the area affected.

(3) Subsection (2) does not limit the minister's authority to include any other information the minister considers necessary or advisable.
