B.C. Reg. 280/2021, deposited November 8, 2021, under the LOCAL ELECTIONS CAMPAIGN FINANCING ACT [sections 30.03, 30.04, 41.1, 63.01, 100, 100.01, 100.1 and 100.2]. Order in Council 614/2021, approved and ordered November 8, 2021.

On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, orders that, effective December 1, 2021, the Local Elections Campaign Financing Expense Limit Regulation, B.C. Reg. 309/2016, is amended as set out in the attached Appendix.

Appendix

1 The title of the Local Elections Campaign Financing Expense Limit Regulation, B.C. Reg. 309/2016, is repealed and the following substituted:

LOCAL ELECTIONS CAMPAIGN FINANCING PRIOR TO
2022 GENERAL LOCAL ELECTION REGULATION .

2 Section 2 is repealed and the following substituted:

Application

2 This regulation does not apply in relation to the following:

(a) assent voting or an election held before the 2018 general local election;

(b) the 2022 general local election;

(c) assent voting or an election held after the 2022 general local election.

3 Section 62.4 is amended by adding the following subsection:

(0.1) This section applies for the purposes of establishing the campaign contribution limits for 2019, 2020 and 2021.

4 Section 70 (2) is amended by repealing paragraphs (a) and (b) and substituting the following:

(a) the amount of space used to promote, directly or indirectly, the election of the candidate or oppose, directly or indirectly, the election of another candidate in the same election;

(b) the amount of time used to promote, directly or indirectly, the election of the candidate or oppose, directly or indirectly, the election of another candidate in the same election.
