B.C. Reg. 122/2022, deposited May 24, 2022, under the MUNICIPALITIES ENABLING AND VALIDATING ACT [section 283 (8)]. Order in Council 269/2022, approved and ordered May 24, 2022.

On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, orders that the Okanagan-Kootenay Sterile Insect Release Service Regulation, B.C. Reg. 17/90, is amended as set out in the attached Schedule.

Schedule

1 Section 1 of the Okanagan-Kootenay Sterile Insect Release Service Regulation, B.C. Reg. 17/90, is amended

(a) by repealing the definition of "converted value of land" and substituting the following:

"converted value of land and improvements" means the net taxable value of land and improvements for regional hospital district purposes multiplied by the percentage set out for the land and improvements in the Converted Value Percentages Regulation; , and

(b) by adding the following definition:

"planted acreage" means the number of acres of land planted with apple or pear trees.

2 Section 4 (2) is repealed and the following substituted:

(2) The annual costs of a sterile insect release service that are recovered by a property value tax under section 3 shall be apportioned among the participating regional districts in accordance with the following formula:

regional district share	=	converted value	× 75%	+	planted acreage	× 25%

		total converted value			total planted acreage

where
converted value	=	the converted value of land and improvements, in the previous calendar year, in all areas of the regional district that participate in the sterile insect release service;
planted acreage	=	the planted acreage, in the previous calendar year, in all areas of the regional district that participate in the sterile insect release service;
total converted value	=	the total of the converted values of land and improvements, in the previous calendar year, in all of the participating areas of all of the participating regional districts;
total planted acreage	=	the total of the planted acreages, in the previous calendar year, in all of the participating areas of all of the participating regional districts.
