Definitions

1   In this regulation:

"antifreeze" includes engine coolant;

"motor vehicle" has the same meaning as in the Motor Vehicle Act.

Prohibition

2   Subject to section 3, a person must not sell antifreeze that contains 10% or more ethylene glycol by weight.

Exceptions

3   Section 2 does not apply to antifreeze

(a) that contains at least 30 but no more than 50 parts per million by weight of denatonium benzonate bittering agent,

(b) contained within a motor vehicle for sale or lease, or

(c) of a volume greater than 200 litres contained in a single container.

Offence and penalty

4   A person who contravenes section 2 commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $200 000.
