Section 15(2) BEFORE amended by BC Reg 203/2010 effective July 1, 2010.
(2) Subject to subsection (3), the types of licences that may be issued under section 16 of the Act are set out in items 1, 2, 4, 6, 8 to 12, 14 and 15 of column 1 of the table in subsection (4), and the nature and extent of the security work that may be provided under each type of licence is set out in column 2 opposite the type of licence in column 1.
Section 15(4) table item 16 was added by BC Reg 203/2010 effective July 1, 2010.
Section 19(1) to (3) BEFORE self-repeal by BC Reg 207/2008 effective various dates listed in 19(4).
(1) The following persons are exempt from the requirement in section 2 of the Act to hold a security worker licence:
(a) employees of the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires acting in the performance of their duties, but only in respect of that employment;
(b) individuals who are employed or engaged by a person who holds a security business licence of the type described in item 1 of the table in section 15 (4), if the employment or engagement is to transport property in an armoured vehicle;
(c) individuals providing the services of a private investigator who
(i) do not carry out any other kind of security work, and
(ii) are employed by a business entity that does not hold a security business licence;
(d) persons who sell, supply, provide advice on, service or install any closed circuit television equipment, device or system, but who do not carry out any other kind of security work;
(e) persons who
(i) sell, supply, provide advice on, service or install an electronic locking device,
(ii) code or recode an electronic locking device, or
(iii) make, sell or otherwise provide a lock-operating device for an electronic locking device,
but who do not carry out any other kind of security work;
(f) individuals providing or supervising a guard patrol or watch of property or performing services to prevent the loss of property who
(i) do not carry out any other kind of security work, and
(ii) are employed by a business entity that does not hold a security business licence;
(g) individuals providing or supervising a guard of an individual or providing door security at an establishment licensed under the Liquor Control and Licensing Act who
(i) do not carry out any other kind of security work, and
(ii) are employed by a business entity that does not hold a security business licence.
(2) The following persons are exempt from the requirement in section 11 of the Act to hold a security business licence:
(a) persons who sell, supply, provide advice on, service or install any closed circuit television equipment, device or system, but who do not carry out any other kind of security work;
(b) persons who
(i) sell, supply, provide advice on, service or install an electronic locking device,
(ii) code or recode an electronic locking device, or
(iii) make, sell or otherwise provide a lock-operating device for an electronic locking device,
but who do not carry out any other kind of security work;
(c) the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires.
(3) A person who holds a security business licence of the type described in item 1 of the table in section 15 (4) is exempt from section 20 of the Act with respect to individuals employed or engaged by the person to transport property in an armoured vehicle.
