Canada, Province of British Columbia, A Proclamation

CHARLES THE THIRD, by the Grace of God, King of Canada and His other Realms and Territories, Head of the Commonwealth

To all to whom these presents shall come - Greeting

WHEREAS it is recognized that a legally effective will provides greater certainty for individuals by putting their wishes for distribution of their estate after death into writing, and

WHEREAS a will provides guidance for those responsible for distributing an estate, and

WHEREAS a will allows an individual to protect and take care of what matters most in their lives-their children, partner, other family, friends, charities or other valued people or organizations, and

WHEREAS it is the aim of the government of British Columbia to increase awareness of the benefits of having a will;

NOW KNOW YE THAT We do by these presents proclaim and declare that October 1 to 7, 2023, shall be known as "Make a Will Week" in the Province of British Columbia.

IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, We have caused these Our Letters to be made Patent and the Great Seal of Our Province of British Columbia to be hereunto affixed.

WITNESS, The Honourable Janet Austin, Lieutenant Governor of Our Province of British Columbia, in Our City of Victoria, in Our Province, this sixteenth day of August, two thousand twenty-three and in the first year of Our Reign.
