BC Laws Modernization

On December 3, 2025, Bill 22 (Statutes Act) and Bill 23 (Regulations Act) received Royal Assent. Read more about both bills in the government news release issued on October 7, 2025.

The new legislation will result in modernization of the BC Laws website, including:

• Making electronic versions of Acts and Regulations "official" for evidentiary purposes, in court and elsewhere.
• Providing for accessibility features (hypertext links, alternative text) and information features (not-in-force notations, historical references) to be included in official versions of legislation.
• Establishing a centralized website that will store and maintain maps, images, forms, records and other materials that are adopted by reference in regulations, orders in council and letters patent.

However, good things take time. The key portions of both bills are not yet in force, and therefore the big changes are still in progress.

This page has been created to keep users of BC Laws up-to-date on the implementation of the Statutes Act and the updated Regulations Act. This is expected to happen in multiple phases throughout 2026 and 2027.
